Not his toys! What can I do?

AIM+e plus a Melody asked:

I have an 8 month old daughter and she has a lot of stuffed animal toys. Most of them have bells or something inside of them that makes noise.

My dog loves them. If he even spots one he’ll make a beeline for it and carry it off under the bed. He’s quite stubborn and I don’t know what I could do to help him distinguish her toys from his…Any ideas?

Keep the toys in room where the dog is not allowed.

You can also remove all toys of his that resemble stuffed animals. Use only latex, rope, and similar toys. Nothing fuzzy or stuffed.

Get your dog a basket and fill it with all sorts of toys that he would love. You can buy a rubber kong toy and put treats in it for distraction. When he goes for your daughter’s stuffed animal, destract him with one of his own toys. And till he outgrows this- keep your daughter’s room closed so hes not tempted.

Dogs do like stuff that makes sounds, and things that arnt there’s. iv got a little cousin who visits my home and the pup loves chewing her toys and running off.

you just need to buy the same sort off toys for your dog, or just yell a loud ‘NO’ and make him understand its wrong to do what his doing.

try to treat train him. Many people use a technique where if they catch their dog doing something good without being asked they give the dog a treat. after a while the dog gets the picture
