lead poisoning kills by overloading the organs one by one until none are left to support life function.

The lead can get into their systems and they can get lead poisoning I believe.

Lead can be deadly in large amounts to children. You can have lead test done at your local health department if you feel your children have been in exposed to high amounts.

It can make them very sick, and they can die. Get rid of any of there toys with lead in it

Lead interferes with a variety of body processes and is toxic to many organs and tissues including the heart, bones, intestines, kidneys, and reproductive and nervous systems. It interferes with the development of the nervous system and is therefore particularly toxic to children, causing potentially permanent learning and behavior disorders.

In children lead can cause mental retardation (since their brains are still growing), for other people it’s still toxic, but wouldn’t cause noticeable symptoms except in larger doses. Also of course young children are at special risk since they are more likely to put things in their mouths.

If it’s lead that is in the toys it can give them lead poisoning. Other toxic paints, materials etc. give other kinds of poisoning. Here is a website with some additional information.

If you type in “lead poisoning in kids” in google there a plenty of sites with information

It doesn’t do anything unless they eat it. But that’s not a risk worth taking. Lead poisoning destroys the nervous system and sends you mad.
