Can throwing a small stuffed animal accidentally at your tv screen break it?

dreamr3913 asked:

I was playing fetch with my dog in the house and accidentally threw his small stuffed squeaky toy at the tv. I didn’t think anything of it and didn’t turn it on until the following day. Now there is sound but no picture (including the tv menu). Is this a coincidence or can throwing a small stuffed toy at my tv really have done this?

I highly doubt that a stuffed animal could do this to your tv.

No way you broke it with this toy. I use to work at a TV repair shop and for fun we would occasionally break TV tubes. Sometimes we would throw hammers at them and it would just bounce off and the tv would still be functioning, so unless the toy is made of lead or something, chances are its just a coincidence.

If that stuffed animal has a nose or other body part that is hard as a rock, it is possible that it shook something loose inside the t.v. after coming in contact with the screen. And I suppose it’s only fair to qualify that theory by mentioning your pitching skills. If you have a real “arm,” then maybe you hurled that stuffed dog like your life depended on it.

Still, it really seems highly improbable that a little stuffed animal had anything to do with the malfunctioning of your t.v.
